The green peppers are starting to come on. They just need to get a little bigger so maybe next week. We also have a chocolate and a purple variety.
Ooooh... our sweet baby watermelons are so good. They will be ready to harvest in a week or two. These are heirloom melons and very sweet.
Our green beans should be here soon and we have tons of them. They are similar to a haricot vert (a thin french green bean) with lots of flavor and crisp.
Queen Anns lace. There are so many things you can make from this beautiful weed. Check out my last news letter for instructions on how to make beautiful snowflake christmas tree ornaments.
The following three pictures are of the raspberries. See what a few days of sunshine will do? As you can see the raspberry bushes are loaded. I picked a few for us today and they are delicious! They are a true raspberry from every sense of the word.
Below is a shade structure we put up last week which does two things: 1) it keeps the raspberries and blackberries from getting scorched by the sun and 2) it helps to keep the birds out of the berries.
Strawberry Fields Forever......or so it seems when you are the one picking them:)
The strawberry Plants are looking beautiful this year. With the weather cooling off a bit and the abundance of sunshine we've had we expect them to be plentiful and around for awhile.
Raspberries and Blackberries are also doing great this year.
We have also planted some new Raspberry and Blackberry Bushes. Some of which are Golden Raspberries. We may get a few golden yet this year but should have a good crop by next year.
